Note: While this chart shows the general sequence of project tasks, it does not represent the length of the project timeline. Many factors determine the length of the timeline such as project size, project complexity and the time of year. Some items may fall into other phases as circumstances dictate. You may be asked to review selections on occasion with our staff to verify your choices.
Prior to start of project

- Prepare site
- Stake project
- Finalize plans and contract
- Finalize all selections with product vendors (i.e. windows, doors, siding, brick, ceramic tile/hardwood flooring, cabinets, countertops, vinyl, laminate flooring and carpet, plumbing and light fixtures)
Foundation Phase
- Excavate foundation
- Pour footings
- Pour foundation walls
- Backfill
Framing Phase
- Frame-in house
- Shingle house
- Pour basement floor
- Pour garage floor
Trades Phase I
- Rough-in plumbing
- Rough-in heating
- Rough-in electric
- Building inspection
- Install wall insulation
"Surfaces" Phase
Inside
- Install drywall
- Install garage doors
- Paint: Primer and first coat on walls; paint/stain trim
- Install ceramic tile/hardwood floors
- Install ceiling insulation
Outside
- Install siding
- Install exterior brick
"Details" Phase

- Install trim and cabinets
- Paint: Finish coat and touch-ups
- Install countertops
- Install vinyl/laminate floors
Outside
- Finish exterior concrete
- Finish grade
Trades Phase II
- Finish plumbing

- Arrange for telephone/cable service
Finish Phase
- Install mirrors

- Change utility accounts to owner’s name
